Practitioners Conference – April 2023

Program & Photos

NESA’s CEO, Sally Sinclair, stepped down from the role in April 2023 after nearly 22 years service. As NESA’s inaugural Chair in 1997, and having been CEO since 2001, Sally represented our members and the sector since the contracting out of public employment services commenced, witnessing a myriad of programs and contract variations throughout this time. Having overseen countless procurement cycles, Sally always advocated for a high-quality sector that delivers tangible outcomes for unemployed and disadvantaged job seekers in Australia.

Strategic Alliances

NESA has established knowledge exchange and research partnerships with a range of local and international research bodies including Melbourne University, University of Portsmouth, Sydney University (Brain and Mind Institute), University of Amsterdam and NSW University. NESA works collaboratively with Government Departments, agencies and non-government stakeholders to support the effective design and delivery of labour market assistance and social policy.

NESA is strongly engaged with international stakeholders such as the OECD (Vice Chair Local Development Forum), World Association of Public Employment Services, European Public Employment Services Network, ILO, World Bank, Inter American Development Bank, International Council for Career Development and Public Policy (Board Member) and the Asian Development Bank.

NESA values knowledge exchange with our international networks to identify leading and emerging practices and inform Australian employment services. These networks also provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences of other countries to understand critical success factors that underpin successful policy and program settings and avoid known risks to effective implementation.

International Study Tour

The following organisations hosted presentations and visits:

The tour provided our member delegates with access to international business opportunities, insights into leading international approaches to the delivery of employment outcomes for people living with a disability and those with other complex barriers to labour market participation.

In addition the tour provided an opportunity to showcase the work of the Australian employment services provider network including our tour delegates. Australian employment service providers continue to be prominent in international employment services. NESA’s innovation tour enables our members to share perspectives and expertise with our international policy makers and service commissioners, which also opens connection to potential export market opportunities.
