Earlier this year she was teamed up with Employment Consultant Vanessa Slattery.<\/p>\n<p>Together they updated Helena\u2019s resume and Vanessa approached employers to find roles which Helena would be suitable for. As a mum, Helena also needed to find employment that worked in with her family life. Helena interviewed for a few roles with Vanessa helping her prepare for and de-briefing after interviews. Going through this process assisted Helena with increasing her confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Last month Pets Domain advertised for a Retail Assistant, Vanessa put forward Helena\u2019s resume. The next day Helena attended an interview and just a few hours later she was offered the role.<\/p>\n<p>Helena is happy in her new role, where she is responsible for customer service, sales, restocking, animals care, cleaning, stock take and end-of-day operations.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMy favourite part of my new role is interacting with customers being able to help someone find what they needed,\u201d she said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Vanessa continues to support Helena and the team at Pets Domain with anything they need as they settle into their new working relationship. Helena feels comfortable that she has the support of both the team at Pets Domain and Vanessa, they are both approachable, friendly, and understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Gaining employment has given Helena a new sense of confidence and independence.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing! I have money that I have never had before, and I can pay things off. I feel like I have a purpose beyond my family\/home life, to get up and get motivated every day. Having this job helps me overcome my anxiety and depression,\u201d said Helena.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Vanessa is proud of everything Helena has achieved and is happy she has found employment that she wanted and enjoys.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHelena has taken on all challenges thrown her way and not let them overcome her drive to gain ongoing work. That\u2019s why MatchWorks established a grant program to help these organisations support more local people impacted by hardship. So far, 27 support organisations across Australia have benefited from over $35,000 of funding to assist at risk people in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The grant program also gave a helping hand to Victorian hospitality clients after the sector was hit hard by ongoing lockdowns and restrictions. $7,500 was granted to 10 local cafes to enable them to give back to their customers or provide food packs for people struggling to put food on the table.<\/p>\n<p>These initiatives made a positive contribution to local Australian businesses and communities.
